THE ORIGINAL FILM GIRL
I have a passion for film and image making that took me from corralling the neighbor kids into “plays” I recorded on a borrowed camcorder, to a BFA in Film Production at the University of Colorado. As a graduate and awarded student filmmaker, I worked as a “P.A. to the stars” in the very end of the 90’s and beginning of the 2000’s, and learned to shoot and develop film with a Pentax K-1000. I feel truly lucky for my education with experimental godfather Stan Brakhage, and my proximity to indie film greats Scott Macaulay (Producer, Gummo) and Karyn Kusama (Director, Girlfight), as well as that time I PA’ed for George Clooney (on Confessions of a Dangerous Mind).
My curiosity landed me in Detroit, where I worked on local music videos, continued my photography hobby, and had my introduction to the ad world via a job in post production.
I relocated to Denver in 2008 and found a career building position at Citizen Pictures (home of “Giada at Home” then, and “Diners, Drive-ins & Dives” now). I grew producing skills with the resources of a long format episodic production behind me: making regional spots, branded content, and pitch reels in the field, and all varieties of short form edits in the suite. For many years in that role, I created all the company’s commercial bids, budgets, and job proposals, in addition to new reels and website makeovers.
Of course, I was itching to get out on my own the whole time. I began my freelance producing career in Austin in 2016. I’m proud of the work I have created in this community and the relationships I’ve built as I evolved my career, adding still shoot production to my resume as I also produced larger and larger commercial productions as a line producer.
Now, I can support a production as a hired line producer or production manager, or with my production company, Film Girl LLC. My guiding principles are equitable compensation and transparency between production, agency, and clients. I enjoy working in hands on production roles on the agency side as well and working closely with creatives.
In 2025, I filmed my self-directed short with an exceptional Austin crew. “Hot No Start” features my 1993 Volvo 240 Classic and is in post-production as of Spring 2026.
In my spare time I pursue my enduring goal of feature screenwriting, go to movies, sing karaoke with a bunch of other ad folks, and enjoy being outdoors, swimming, and DOGS.
*I can also work as a local in Denver, CO.
